Hong Kong is home to approximately 220,000 Filipino domestic helpers, making it one of the largest OFW communities in Asia. Hong Kong offers strong worker protections, a statutory minimum wage for domestic helpers (HKD 4,870/month in 2026), mandatory rest days, and a well-regulated employment system.

Standard Employment Contract
All FDHs in Hong Kong must sign the Standard Employment Contract (ID 407), which guarantees:
- MAW payment (no deductions allowed for recruitment fees)
- Free accommodation with reasonable privacy
- Paid rest days and statutory holidays
- Free return passage to the Philippines
- Free medical treatment
- Worker compensation insurance
Important: Under Hong Kong law, employers CANNOT charge you recruitment fees. All costs must be borne by the employer. If an agency charges more than HKD 411, report them.
Your Rights as an FDH
- No fee charging: Maximum agency fee is HKD 411 (equivalent to 10% of first month salary)
- Contract termination: 1 month notice by either party
