ePassport 10-Year Validity Now Available at All Posts Worldwide

The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that all Philippine embassies and consulates worldwide now issue the 10-year validity ePassport for adult applicants aged 18 and above. The extended validity, signed into law under RA 11551, has been fully rolled out across all 90+ diplomatic posts. Minors under 18 continue to receive 5-year validity passports. The processing fee remains at USD 60 for regular and USD 80 for expedited service at most posts.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has expanded its One-Stop Service Centres (OSSC) in key Gulf countries, consolidating POLO, OWWA, and consular services under one roof. The upgraded centres in Dubai, Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, and Kuwait City offer streamlined processing for OEC issuance, OWWA membership renewal, contract verification, and welfare case management. The DFA has issued a reminder for all overseas Filipinos to check their passport validity well before planned travel. Many countries require at least 6 months of passport validity upon entry. Filipinos whose passports expire within the next 12 months are encouraged to book renewal appointments now, as peak season (April-August) often results in longer wait times. Online appointment slots can be booked through the DFA Global Online Appointment System.

PhilHealth has announced updated premium rates for Overseas Filipino Program (OFP) members effective January 2026. The annual premium for overseas-based members is now PHP 4,800 (approximately USD 86), payable through accredited banks, OWWA offices, or the PhilHealth online portal. OFWs are reminded that PhilHealth membership is mandatory under the Universal Health Care Act and provides comprehensive health coverage for the member and qualified dependants when availing services in the Philippines.
RA 9225 Applications See Record Numbers in 2025

Philippine embassies worldwide reported record numbers of RA 9225 (Dual Citizenship) applications processed in 2025, with over 120,000 Filipinos abroad re-acquiring or retaining their Philippine citizenship. The United States, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom accounted for the majority of applications. The DFA attributes the increase to growing awareness of property ownership rights and the Balikbayan privilege benefits available to dual citizens.
